Finishing Services
Mounting is the application of prints with pressure/heat
to surfaces with the use of film adhesive.
Lamination is the use of a thin, transparent gloss or matt
film.
Matt laminate diffuses reflections but makes the image
appear duller and is preferable where light sources may be
close to the displayed image.
Gloss laminate gives the effect of better colour and
contrast in images, with darker blacks.
Tyical mount materials:-
•FoamPVC - a relatively stiff, lightweight material
available in a range of thicknesses from 2mm to 20mm.
•MDF - a heavy, compressed wood pulp board, more often
used in thicknesses of 10 to 25mm. Usually suited to
permanent indoor display where a frame would be
unsuitable.
•Aluminium - Images that are required to be both rigid
and with long-term durablility are often mounted to
aluminium sheeting. Ideal for outdoor use.
•Corrugated PPL - Light, inexpensive and rigid. Suited for
temporary applications and short term outdoor use, it's
slightly ribbed appearance makes it only suitable for larger
images which are viewed at a distance, such as hoardings.
•Perspex - provides a more attractive finish, typically
suited for indoor use.
